Toshiba Qosimio

Toshiba Qosimio

Toshiba’s Qosimio is designed for advanced laptop computing. Fitted with the very latest Intel Core i7 and i5 processors, it is able to process vast amounts of data at blistering speeds making it ideal for gamers, graphic designers and other high-end users.

The system is augmented with Intel® Turbo Boost and Intel® Hyper-Threading technology, which together comprise two of the most advanced innovations available in the commercial market. The Qosimio is not designed for your everyday laptop user – it is designed to do something special.

Toshiba has paid very careful attention to all the different features of the Qosimio’s construction. It’s audio system, which is powered by Dolby Home Theatre, is particularly impressive, transforming the experience of watching movies, listening to music or gaming into something far more real and vivid due to its glorious bright treble and downright dirty bass. Suddenly you’ll find yourself right in the middle of the performance.

As expected with such a luxury package, you’ll find a range of different features which are aimed to improve the package just that little bit more. One of these that stands out is the integrated Blu-ray disk player which allows you to enjoy fantastic, high quality movies without having to leave your living room.

The Qosimiois not for everyone. It is for people who want to have special performance from a laptop which is an extraordinary entertainment hub.

Toshiba Satellite 14.0 Widescreen

Toshiba Satellite 14.0 Widescreen

The Satellite range is one of Toshiba’s biggest and most successful ranges. The Satellite range has pretty much something to appeal to everyone, from fast processors, webcams to vast storage spaces – all at very competitive online prices.

One of the key features of the Satellite laptop range, however, is that you get to choose from a range of different monitor sizes. The 14.0 widescreen version comes in the middle of this range and it gives you a fine balance between a good, crisp visual display that you can use for watching movies and video and something that does not break the bank.

One of the Toshiba Satellite 14.0’s key draws is it range of fantastic additional features that, in many cases, are not even available on many competing brands. You have the Toshiba Bulletin Board and Real Time, which help you to plan your days and schedule your working life. There is also Toshiba Media Controller, a package which allows you to effortlessly stream all of the media on your PC across all of the different electronic platforms in your house.

All in all, the Toshiba Satellite 14.0 is a good, fully built-up option for people looking for a catch-all laptop solution.p

Toshiba Guides

A guide to Super-light laptops

A guide to Super-light laptops

What is a super-light laptop?

A super-light laptop is quite self-explanatory. They are a range of laptops that are growing in importance each year due to their popularity. In fact, the trend over the past three years has been to see laptops getting thinner and thinner and lighter and lighter – up until the point when one new model was used to cut a birthday cake at its launch ceremony.

Why are super-light laptops becoming more popular?

It all really comes down to Wi-Fi. Five years ago people had to be hooked up to a telephone socket to use the Internet, but then all of a sudden Wi-Fi came along and set up all free.

Suddenly people could do any online activity from all sorts of different places: from the middle of Times Square to the peaks of the Appalachian Mountains. And now that people could get out and about they wanted something portable, something light.

PC hardware manufacturers noted this need and the design of their laptops changed to suit. By the year, laptops became thinner and thinner so that people could carry them around with little more effort than carrying a book or a notepad. In fact, a whole new range of super-light laptops even gained their own special name: netbooks.

What is the lightest laptop that Toshiba sell?

Toshiba sell a great range of super slim and thin laptops, but you can’t do much better than their award winning NB300 netbook. It’s a perfect combination of slender design and power making it easy for you to surf the net, blog and Facebook as you go!

Here’s what Toshiba say about the mode:

If you want a companion PC to empower your freedom day and night, our mini NB300 netbook is the perfect choice. Super light-weight, stylish and practical, it weighs less than three pounds and can be carried virtually anywhere. Plus, it offers an award-winning comfort-driven design, exceptional battery life and plenty of room to surf, type and browse wherever you are.

A guide to environmentally friendly computing

A guide to environmentally friendly computing

What are the effects of computers on the environment?

If you think of all the different component that make up a PC: the chips, the drives, the casing, the keyboard and the mouse. And then you think of all the packaging and the disposal problems, you can begin to realize the effect that our consumption of PCs has on the global environment.

What are companies doing to reduce their carbon footprint?

After the shift in public and scientific option to an acceptance that global warming is happening, most technology companies have adopted environmentally-friendly policies to ensure that they are lessening their impact on the environment. They are doing this by recycling old components that are returned by customers, by using less plastics in the manufacturing of their machines and other smart product-design techniques. International and national bodies have also appeared with strict rules that regulate the companies themselves – ensuring that they are as green as they possibly can be.

What are Toshiba doing to help the environment?

Toshiba claim to be one of the greenest PC hardware manufacturers on the planet. They have developed an Environmental Vision 2050 policy and their Factor T environmental impact indicator. These policies dictate Toshiba’s environmental policy. Which, quoting from their official websites, means ‘60° approach in all that we do, from product design and lifecyle planning, to manufacturing, packaging, logistics and even local facilities management.’ It is certainly worthwhile looking at the environmental credentials of a company before you complete a purchase. By reducing your carbon footprint, you will go a little way to combating the long-term effects of climatic change.
Toshiba Company Guide

Toshiba Company Guide

It is rare to find any technology company that is older than 30 years, which is why it is extraordinary that Toshiba has a history that stretches back for more than one hundred years.

Two of the most brilliant, innovative minds in Japanese history lie at the very beginning of the Toshiba story: Hisashige Tanaka, who was well known in his youth for his series of inventions, and Ichisuke Fujioka, who was called the Thomas Edison of his country.

Of course, they didn’t begin with laptop or desktop computers, but with a range of other innovations such as the first Japanese washing machine and refrigerator in the early twentieth century… They also introduces the world’s very first color video phone and color television.

Although the range inventions might have changed over the years, the spirit of inventiveness has not. For more than a decade Toshiba has been involved in the evolution of PCs: desktop and laptop computers that have sold fantastically around the world.

They are a trusted brand that fuse together global innovation and Japanese know-how to create impressive models. The company are also heavily involved in North America with the Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Awards program for aspiring students as well as the grant-giving Toshiba America Foundation.

It all comes, they say, from a thirst to find and develop the next big idea.
