Lenovo to produce thinner Intel Ultraportables

Tue, Aug 23, 2011

In a bid to keep up with the fast slimming down of portable devices Lenovo have announced their intentions to produce the next generation in ultraportable notebooks. We’ve seen the likes of the Apple MacBook Air and Dell’s Elitebook line providing powerful technology that’s wafer thin and now Lenovo are going to add to the mix.

The ultraportable notebooks will stock Intel processors so at the heart of these laptops you will have a sturdy and strong core, the i-series in particularly will provide that bit of extra power that could help you power through work on the go.

We’ve seen through the prevalence of netbook sales, and tablet figures going from strength to strength and now being produced by just about every notable computer manufacturer that portable machinery is still in high demand. So over the coming quarters expect to see more and more of these thin notebooks making their way on to the market and Lenovo intend to be forerunners in terms of design and quality.

Over the last few weeks we’ve seen headlines announcing the death of PC’s as we know them and company after company making brave boasts about the slenderness of their new laptops, most of them targeting the MacBook Air as the main “one-to-beat”.

Nevertheless Lenovo have already produced some size zero stunners, particularly in their award-winning X-series, so we here are PC-Site will be watching with bated-breath to see what they come up with.
