Acer Product Reviews

Acer Aspire 5739

Acer Aspire 5739

budget laptop is a surprisingly good looking and fast portable, which, when you consider the price, delivers performance that’s way out its league.

This is a real bargain of a laptop. Using the 5739 for simple tasks, such as word processing, will allow it to deliver a very respectable four hours of battery life, while on full burn you will get around an hour and a half.

It’s  Blu-ray drive, Dolby sound and the 2Gb Nvidia GeForce graphics card mean that the Aspire is great for movies and gaming. The 15.6 inch hi-def screen makes an excellent visual display that doesn’t reflect too much at all. These features are quite unique in this price range.

Excellent performance is underpinned by 4Gb of RAM and 500Gb hard drive, with 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo processors. There’s also very good accessibility with 3 USBs, 1 USB/eSATA and an HDMI port.

It’s not the most stylish laptop on the market, but with such excellent features something had to give. However, the rounded blue lid and nicely set out keyboard gives it a certain charm; there is even an independent numeric key pad.

This may not sound like a big deal but if you do absolutely anything that requires the use of spreadsheets or databases it’s so much easier having one of these than using the number strip along the top of the keyboard, as with many laptops.

Acer Aspire M7720

Acer Aspire M7720

Getting a PC to market that delivers enough processing power to satisfy the needs of serious gamers and designers alike whilst coming in at a price tag that places it within reach of people on modest budgets is not easy.

Despite numerous failed attempts, from other PC manufacturers in the past, it seems that Acer thought they could pull off this most difficult of tricks; in many respects they have.

A good gaming or multimedia PC often boils down to RAM, storage and graphics and on the first two the M77220 really excels.

For your money you get 6GB of RAM, upgradeable to 12GB, and one 1Tb hard drive and one 640GB hard drive. This gives you tonnes of storage and enough memory on the basic configurations to really make the most of that Intel Core i7.

There are some inspired design features; the pop-up multi-card reader makes it much easier to insert your card than with many other readers, which often involve getting down on bended knees.

Even more impressive is the hard disk drive bay, which is accessible from the front, maiking expanding the storage capabilities really simple.

Acer has produced a brilliant package here that’s well suited to both demanding multimedia applications and gaming. While the graphics aren’t really high end, this shouldn’t detract from what is a great machine.

Acer Ferrari One

Acer Ferrari One

This little red beauty is a PC you will want to show off.  Remember, with Ferrari it’s all about the look. So whether you are out around town, sitting in a coffee shop or working in the park, you’ll be proud to have this one by your side.

From the striking shiny red lid to the Cavallino Rampante emblem, this netbook, the result of Acer teaming up with Italian car makers Ferrari, exudes style and class, and under the bonnet you’ll find plenty of power to keep you going.

It is the first of its kind to have a dual-core processor, the AMD Athlon X2 L310, making it one of the fastest netbooks around.

The 11.6-inch diagonal screen with its 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution provides a sharp and vivid viewing experience that’s very impressive for a netbook.  For the ultimate video experience the Ferrari also has Dolby®-optimised surround sound from a pair of built-in stereo speakers.

In addition, this netbook has great connectivity options, sporting the Acer EasyPort IV, an ExpressCard™/34 slot, 3 USB ports and a 5-in-1 card reader.

This is a stylish and speedy little netbook with highly striking features, including its ATI 3D graphics technology and LCD screen. It is a great choice for anyone who wants a fast performing ultraportable (and for Ferrari fans too, obviously).
